Tarc Will Be out of the Office

Tarc Will Be out of the Office

Well hello, everybody!

We hope that all of you have had an amazing start to 2017 and that you are all safe, warm, happy and healthy. We can hardly believe that another year has passed and we hope that this year our best year yet.

For many of us, the start to 2017 has been a whirlwind of activity. Life has swept us off our feet and new opportunities, responsibilities, and adventures have kept us away from our keyboards and computers. This includes our own Tarcanus Frostbourne (who is now 3,000 miles away from his old home).

As such, Tarcanus will be quite busy over the new few months with both work and educational activities (in addition to his normal travel activities and professional obligations). Thus, his presence in-game and our role play activities as a guild will be quite limited. We anticipate that things will return to normal in mid to late-April, so stay tuned for more information as we receive it!

Please note that the Coram Populo raid team will still be active and pushing hard into tiers of content both present and future. We are also still recruiting new raiders and guild members for the raid team and other PvE-related activities. Interested parties should contact our PvE Department Head, Tehrass, for more information.

We hope that all of you continue to live well and kill bosses each and every week and we look forward to the day that Tarcanus is able to rejoin us.

Take care out there and of course, be safe wherever you may be in the world!

Creating a Healthy Guild Environment in the Wake of Current Events

Creating a Healthy Guild Environment in the Wake of Current Events

After observing many of the reactions (everywhere) to the current political climate that exists in the United States and around the world, we felt it necessary to restate some of our own guild rules and policies that guide us through our adventure in Azeroth and beyond together. In fact, we would much rather make these statements now so that everyone is clear on our guild rules and policies as we move forward together.

We realize that our guild members are a diverse group of individuals who come from many different backgrounds and parts of the world. One of the coolest things about our guild is that we do have members from over fourteen different countries who work in an infinitely varied number of professions. We would never want to change that and, if anything, we hope to broaden our scope even further and continue recruitment well into Legion and beyond.

We also realize that many of you have strong political beliefs and opinions and that the current election cycle in the United States may have brought forth many strong emotions within our guild members (regardless of what their political beliefs are or who they supported in the general election). There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. It is great to see that people are so invested in and passionate about what happens to their government, world, and future.

However, when it comes to what we say and do as a guild (and as individuals who are members of this guild), there are other important things to consider as well.

Gaming for Fun

World of Warcraft, like many of the activities we participate in, is supposed to be fun. Many of us lead very busy lives outside the game and raiding and role play are things we use to take a break from reality or the daily grind and do something that allows us to rejuvenate our energy and clear our minds of the pressures of work, family, personal finance, commutes, chores and other things going on in the world.

Politics, the economy, wars, taxes and elections are things that are constantly thrown in our faces, especially now that we live in the era of cable television, the Internet, and social media. Sometimes, we all need to step away from this endless barrage of information and opinion and just enjoy a simple game.

Of course, we would never encourage people to stop having opinions or to stop educating themselves on important issues. We all have strong beliefs about various things in the world and our lives. It is good to have core values and to attempt to live by them each day. However, ensuring that our guild environment is one that allows people to feel welcome, removed from the pressures of everyday life, and without the thought of wondering if someone is going to make a political statement or joke in front of them is of the utmost importance.

We are all here to have fun and to “take a breather,” so to speak, from real life. Life can be difficult enough without having to deal with extra stress in a video game or during an activity we participate in for recreational purposes. Our challenges should manifest themselves in the form of raid bosses, mythic runs, battlegrounds, and becoming diverse and robust creative writers and role players. That is what will make us stronger as a community and as a family. That is what we hope to accomplish in Coram Populo.

Thank you for your attention in this matter and we hope that you all continue to be the amazing people that you have always been!

Coram Populo Personal Conduct Policies and Guild Rules

All guild members are encouraged to review the personal conduct policies and guild rules located on our guild website. These are the policies and rules that all guild members agreed to adhere to when first applying to and interviewing for a membership role within our guild.

Please note that these rules and policies apply to ALL of our channels, websites, blogs, social media pages, chat text, voice chat programs, and all communications platforms both in and out of game. These rules also apply both publicly and privately.

Legion Raiding: Enchants, Buffs (Food, Flasks, Runes), and Potions

Legion Raiding: Enchants, Buffs (Food, Flasks, Runes), and Potions

For those of you who are still wondering what pieces of gear you need to enchant for Legion raiding (or what buffs/food/flasks/potions/items you need to be prepared with each raid night), here is a short list of items and slots that are of great importance and mandatory for raiding with Coram Populo.

The items listed below are not optional (except for the glove and shoulder enchants). It is expected that each raid team member acquire their own enchants, food, buffs, and potions before each raid night and that each raid member have enough of each to last for an entire progression raid night.

Many guild and raid team members are enchanters, alchemists, and chefs so you should check in guild chat first before attempting to look for these items on the auction house. There are a lot of people in the guild who are willing to help you. Most times, you just need to provide the mats!

Enchants

“Binding of” enchants are more powerful versions of “Word of” enchants in Legion. Please be sure to get the most powerful version of the enchants that are best in slot for your class and spec.

  1. Neck: Random effects, depends on what role you are performing in the raid.
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=228408/mark-of-the-ancient-priestess
  2. Cloak: +200 to a primary stat
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190879/binding-of-intellect
  3. Ring 1: +200 to a secondary stat
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190871/binding-of-haste
  4. Ring 2: +200 to a secondary stat
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190872/binding-of-mastery
  5. Gloves (Utility): Great for increasing the speed of collecting raw materials and archaeology fragments.
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190991/legion-surveying
  6. Shoulders (Utility): Great for farming materials for professions. Acquired from various quests and factions.
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=190954/boon-of-the-scavenger

Glove and shoulder enchants are not mandatory for raiding. However, they do provide useful benefits throughout the Broken Isles and highly recommended for player utility and farming useful materials.

Buffs

Please note that there are multiple tiers of food buffs and you should be using the food buff that provides the highest increase to your preferred secondary stat as possible. You should also carry enough food, augment runes, and flasks to last throughout the evening. This may include up to 20+ pulls on a progression raid night.

  1. Food: +375 to a secondary stat
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=201507/nightborne-delicacy-platter
  2. Flask: +1300 to a primary stat
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/item=127847/flask-of-the-whispered-pact
  3. Augment Rune: +325 to a primary stat
    1. Example: http://www.wowhead.com/item=140587/defiled-augment-rune

Potions

Everyone should carry enough DPS potions to last for an entire raid night. This includes using a DPS potion BEFORE each boss is pulled (pre-potting) AND during an appropriate situation for a second use of your preferred DPS potion.

In addition, everyone should carry enough health or rejuvenation potions to last for 20+ pulls on a progression raid night. This will be necessary especially when we do not have any warlocks in the raid on a given night.

  1. Health/Rejuvenation Potions

  2. DPS Potions

PLEASE NOTE that you must include the name of the enchant that you are looking to acquire in your in-game mail so that Tarcanus can craft the appropriate item.

Please ensure that you have the right materials before sending Tarcanus (or any guild crafter) an enchanting request.

Guild Chefs

PLEASE NOTE that you must include the name of the food that you are looking to acquire in your in-game mail so that Tarcanus can cook the appropriate dish.

Please ensure that you have the right materials before sending Tarcanus (or any guild crafter) a cooking request.

PLEASE NOTE that you must include the name of the flask or potion that you are looking to acquire in your in-game mail so that Vyctor can craft the appropriate item.

Please ensure that you have the right materials before sending Vyctor (or any guild crafter) an alchemy request.

Overall Performance Responsibility

Remember, it is up to you to research which food, buffs, and potions are appropriate for your role, spec and class (and to acquire them before raid night begins). Warcraft Logs and other tools we use to determine team performance and improvement do track the use of such items, so we will be able to see who has and has not been following instructions.

Save Some Coin!

We also realize that the prices for some of these items on the auction house are ridiculous at the moment. Therefore, please do not be afraid to ask a guild member to assist you with acquiring these items. As stated before, often times you need only provide them with the raw materials required to make that item!

Withered Army Training Scenario Walkthough

Withered Army Training Scenario Walkthough

For those who have been attempting to master the Withered Army Training Scenario in Suramar, Tarcanus has put together a video walkthough and guide of things to keep in mind while traversing through the depths of Falaanar with your Withered Army.

This scenario, which randomly appears as a world quest every three days, is a great way to gain reputation with the Nightfallen faction of the Broken Isles. It is also a great way to gain artifact power, acquire some cool pets, and challenge yourself as a leader and tactician.

Quick Tips

  • Plan ahead! Try to unlock all of the ancient mana cap increases that you can and bring 2,000 ancient mana to First Arcanist Thalyssra when you turn in the world quest and start the scenario.
  • If you lose all your health (die) or the entire Withered Army perishes, the scenario ends and you are teleported back to the entrance of Falaanar to collect any loot that you may be entitled to for progressing through the scenario.
  • You are given a score based on how many enemies you eliminate while in the scenario. Your current score can be seen at the top of the screen at all times while in the scenario. The more enemies you kill before your Withered Army is eliminated (or you die), the higher your score. The higher your score at the end of the scenario, the more rewards you receive.
  • Remember that your Withered Army will do most of the damage during this scenario and that you are there as a dungeon guide, field marshal, someone who can interrupt enemies, and a crowd controlling machine.
    • Using the “Mayhem” ability at the bottom of your screen (a button appears that you click) increases your Withered Army’s damage significantly but makes your Withered harder to control. When this button is press and the ability used, your army will go bezerk and do tons of damage but will attack anything within a given agro range.
    • You can cancel “Mayhem” mode by pressing the same button again. This brings your Withered troops back into formation but decreases the overall damage that they do.
  • Chests that require five or ten Withered to bring back to the scenario entrance can provide you with permanent upgrades to your Withered Army for future runs at the training scenario. These five or ten Withered, however, are removed from your current troop count when you send the chest back to the entrance of the scenario.
  • When you send a chest back to the entrance, you will be able to loot it at the end of the scenario. DO NOT LEAVE the scenario before teleporting back to the entrance and collecting all your loot and rewards.
  • Again, DO NOT LEAVE the scenario (or accidentally exit the scenario) before getting sent back to the entrance to collect your rewards. This is true even if you make it all the way to the end of the scenario or clear out the entire depths of Falanaar!
