Coram Populo at Blizzcon 2016

Coram Populo at Blizzcon 2016

Coram Populo was represented at Blizzcon by our three senior officers, Tarcanus, Tehrass and Vyctor.

These three conquered the perils of airport travel, L.A. traffic, and other obstacles so that they could experience the epic event that is Blizzcon. Never ones to shy away from a new adventure, our senior officer trio took everything in (and then some) over their early November vacation.

Tarcanus also took part in a “Meet and Greet” event at Con Before the Storm and was able to meet many listeners of the LFRP Podcast and fans of his YouTube channel and Twitch streaming activities.

For more information about Con Before the Storm, please visit:

This year’s event was so great that our officers did not want it to end. Blizzcon brings out the best in everyone and unites all of us who have this amazing common interest in video games, writing, art, and storytelling.

Next year, we hope to bring even more guild members to Blizzcon so that we can finally meet everyone in the guild in person and share good times, good memories, and everything related to Blizzard Entertainment games and activities.

Stay tuned for more information about Coram Populo at Blizzcon 2017 as time moves forward!

Role Play Meeting and Stream!

Role Play Meeting and Stream!

Thank you to everyone who showed up to our guild role play planning meeting and stream on Saturday!

We had a lot of guild members and individuals from the Twitch and YouTube community show up to the festivities, which made the event both lively and informative (#Frostarcles). More information regarding the specific role play plans for the guild, the Azerothian Trade Federation, and the OOC workshops and seminars will be posted shortly.

In general, it was decided that OOC seminars and workshops were something that our guild members really wanted to participate in and organize. It was also decided that casual social meetups and events were sought, with some individuals volunteering to lead D&D style campaigns and expeditions as well.

Video Replay of the Role Play Meeting and Stream

If you missed the meeting or the stream, there is a “video on demand” replay of all the action available on Twitch. Please note that this replay will only be available for thirty (30) days.

We will also upload the replay of the steam to YouTube as soon as possible.

Streamlining Role Play, Tarcanus Style

Because of time constraints and real life concerns, Tarcanus will be merging many of the role play activities that are a part of the guild and his YouTube/Twitch/podcasting work together. Thus, many of the streams for Twitch and videos for YouTube that are related to role play and creative writing will also encompass the activities we put together for the guild. ICly, this means some of the walk-up role play, social events and other stories will be highlighted and used for YouTube and Twitch videos or streams. OOCly, this means that the educational workshops for the guild will also be streamed to Twitch and uploaded to YouTube.

This will not only save time, but allow Tarcanus to focus on a single IC and OOC direction for both the guild and his YouTube/Twitch/podcast work to ensure that the quality of the content we are providing continues to be as high as possible.

In essence, instead of having one OOC seminar or workshop for the guild and another OOC seminar or workshop for YouTube/Twitch audiences that covers the same topic or information, there will be one OOC seminar on that topic for both groups to consume. Instead of having one story for the Azerothian Trade Federation for guild members and another storyline for people who are interested in role play on YouTube/Twitch, there will be a singular story that all can participate in at one time.

Role Play Leads, Storytellers, Dungeon Masters and Moar Wanted!

A Strong Start to Emerald Nightmare (5/7 Normal)

A Strong Start to Emerald Nightmare (5/7 Normal)

Congratulations to our guild raid team which downed 5/7 bosses in the Emerald Nightmare (N) last week!

The action was intense and the bosses were angry, but we still managed to progress far into the depths of the former Emerald Dream. This week we hope to clear the first five bosses on Tuesday and progress past Cenarius on Friday. If we are on our game, we might even have a chance at clearing Xavius by the end of the week!

Of course, raid team spots are still open and the expansion is still fresh! DPS players are especially needed right now, so this is your chance to get in on the action and beat the Burning Legion into submission while acquiring shiny new gear along the way.

Legion Adventures, Raiding, Mythic+ Dungeons and Role Play

Legion Adventures, Raiding, Mythic+ Dungeons and Role Play

With Legion now well underway and PvE content heating up this week with the release of the Emerald Nightmare raid and Mythic+ dungeon encounters, Coram Populo has begun implementing its plans for this new and exciting time in World of Warcraft. We could not be more excited to invite all of you to join us in our endeavors and we warmly welcome all of our new members who have joined us recently as well. This is a thrilling time to be alive and in-game, and we hope that the energy and enthusiasm only grows from here.

We encourage each of you all to read and review the following information about the direction of the guild and our intentions for raiding, mythic dungeons, role play, and team-building activities.

Discord is a KEY and ESSENTIAL part of our guild communications. Discord has replaced our guild Ventrilo server, our official guild forums, and any and all Skype channels that we used in the past. If you are not actively participating in Discord chat, then you are missing out on many of our out-of-game (and in-game) communications.

An “instant invite” link to join our guild Discord server is listed below:

Discord is a free, fast, and efficient communications platform that offers both text and voice chat to various communities around the web. You can run Discord from your web browser, as a desktop app, and from your smart phone, tablet, and mobile device. For more information about Discord, please visit the link listed below:

Remember that actively utilizing Discord is a requirement to raid with us. Discord is also used for all of our major role play events, announcements, and news in addition to the live steaming and workshops that we host in association with Tarcanus Frostbourne Studios.

Official guild raids will begin next Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

We will start in the Emerald Dream raid on normal difficulty at this time.

Please remember to take the following steps in order to be considered for the raid team. As always, raid team positions and slots are never guaranteed and are given out based on the judgement and determination of our raid leader and PvE Department Head, Tehrass.

  1. Contact Tehrass and express your interest in becoming a member of the raid team. He will most likely wish to have a conversation about you as a raider before you are added to the “active pool” of members for guild raid team.
    1. Raid Leader Email:
    2. Raid Leader Battletag: Tehrass#1655
  2. Sign up for an account with OpenRaid ( OpenRaid is used to track, post, and manage raid events and our weekly raids. Having an OpenRaid account is required for raiding. Raid team members must sign up for EACH raid event they are able (and wish) to attend via OpenRaid in order to be considered for a raid position in that raid.
  3. Join our Discord server ( so that you may listen and communicate via voice and text chat during raid events.
  4. You should also review all of the raid team web pages and the detailed raid team rules/requirements/expectations listed on our guild website before attempting to join the raid team, contact Tehrass, or sign up for guild raid events.
  5. Minimum Item Level for Emerald Nightmare (N): 830. Must have all THREE relic slots unlocked.
    1. Other baseline performance metrics and minimums will be established after the first few raids. These will include both DPS/eDPS and healing throughput numbers AND smart movement, ability, cooldown, damage reduction, interrupt and crowd control usage AND other boss and raid mechanics-based measuring tools!
    2. In addition, all players will be assessed on their ability to follow raid leader instructions, improve their individual and group performances, improve week to week, and continue to gear up consistently.
    3. Many of our raid team members were able to achieve item levels of 840+, 845+, and 850+ before the Emerald Nightmare raid was released. Thus, reaching an item level of 830 should not be a difficult task for prospective raid team members.

NO exceptions will be made to these policies!

We currently have 15-17 guild members who are interested in raiding with us. Please note that the minimum amount of players required to raid normal/heroic raids is 10. The maximum amount of players we can bring into a normal/heroic raid is 30.

Raid rosters and team compositions may change based upon our needs as a raid team. These determinations are made by Tehrass with advisement from the PvE Team Officer Corps. Again, raid team positions are never guaranteed, raid team compositions may change from week to week, and individuals are expected to be willing to learn, grow, and receive feedback as our raid team continues to progress to more difficult encounters and increased raid difficulties.

In essence, you must sign up for each raid that you wish to attend with us via OpenRaid in order to be considered. However, just because you sign up to raid with us does not mean a spot is guaranteed or reserved for you and just because you have raided with us before does not mean you are guaranteed to raid with us in the future. These decisions rest within the capable authority of the raid leader and PvE Department Head, Tehrass, with advisement from the PvE Team Officer Corps.

Mythic and Mythic+ Dungeons

Many of us have already begun the journey into defeating the various bosses of heroic and mythic dungeons. This has been a fun and challenging endeavor for many of us and one that we wish to continue as Legion moves forward.

Mythic and Mythic+ runs shall continue on a voluntary, sign-up basis for the time being. Please check the in-game guild calendar for more information and to sign up for these events.

Right now, we have a good 6-8 guild members who run these dungeons together consistently several nights a week. Eventually, we hope to create and sustain several “teams” or groups of guild members who push into the highest Mythic+ levels possible as mythic dungeon progression becomes a regular staple of the guild.

Once Mythic+ teams are formed and have ran together for several weeks, a more formal selection process will be implemented so that current content Mythic+ teams can sustain a high level of performance and progression as the expansion moves forward.

If you are interested in taking part in a mythic dungeon or Mythic+ team, please use the in-game guild calendar to sign up for a mythic run. Permanent teams and roster space will be allocated as teams themselves are formed.

Also, please remember that certain Mythic+ teams may have goals/expectations/benchmarks that are different than other Mythic+ teams within the guild. Of course, all Mythic+ teams will still strive to work towards the goals of the guild as a whole and within the framework of the designs of the PvE Department of Coram Populo.

Role Play

The Role Play Department of Coram Populo will hold a meeting on Saturday, October 1, 2016 to begin planning for the future of our in character and out of character activities and stories.

Please remember that Coram Populo is a casual role play guild and thus will not hold regular role play (or IC) events multiple times a week. It is simply logistically impossible for us to do so. This may change in the event that several leaders among our role players emerge and are willing to fulfill advanced roles within the guild. However, for the time being, given our personnel and real life concerns, we will not be overtaxing any of our role play leaders or officers.

Our design for role play within the guild remains the same:

  1. OOC educational workshops and seminars will be streamed and recorded to/on Twitch and YouTube.
  2. IC events will be hosted on a semi-regular basis for those who wish to participate in the Azerothian Trade Federation story.

Please note that many of the OOC educational workshops and seminars hosted for the guild will be combined with Tarcanus Frostbourne’s streaming and video-making activities so that we can efficiently and effectively provide quality material and discussion for all involved while balancing other in-game activities and real life obligations as well.

If you are interested in reviewing what some of our writers have produced in the past, please visit the following pages and blogs:

If you have a website, blog, Tumblr page, WordPress site, or other social media pages for any of your characters and would like to be added to our role play directory, please let Tarcanus know as soon as you are ready to share your writing, characters and artistry with the world.

Please also know that you if you are looking to network with other role players or join in on Tarcanus’ other activities with regards to creative writing and role play, please join his professional YouTube and Twitch Discord server using the link listed below:

Thank you for your attention in these matters and we hope to see you all out there in the World of Warcraft! We could not be more excited to start raiding, running mythic dungeons, and role playing in this huge, expansive, and awesome universe that we call home on the Internet.

Until next time, take care!

And of course… please, please, please… be safe, wherever you may be in the world.

Legion Approaches: Coram Populo 2016 and Beyond

Legion Approaches: Coram Populo 2016 and Beyond

Over the next few months, we will begin implementing our plans for Coram Populo in Legion. While the transition period between Warlords of Draenor and the upcoming expansion has been less busy than during the latter stages of previous expansions, we do believe that this “break” or “vacation” of sorts will leave all of us refreshed and ready to embark on a new journey. We have a lot in store for the guild, and we hope that you will be just as excited as we are to see what World of Warcraft has to offer for the rest of 2016 and beyond.

In case anyone has missed the announcement, Legion will officially launch on August 30, 2016.

Before we reveal some of the groundwork and planning that we have been doing to prepare for Legion, we would first like to relay some of the basic information about Coram Populo that everyone should know.

Please feel free to contact us on Tumblr, via email, or on Discord if you have any questions about this road map for our future plans.

Also, please keep in mind that this is just a basic overview of things to come and that detailed information will be published and distributed on social media, our guild Tumblr, and our official guild website as it becomes available. In essence, the information listed under each subheading listed below is a summary and summation of larger plans that shall be further detailed at a future date and time.

We just want to give everyone an overview of what is happening as move forward.

Discord will be replacing our guild forums, Ventrilo, and Skype channels/conversations as the official method of communication for the guild.

Discord is a free platform and will run from a web browser, mobile device, or desktop app (both PC and Mac).

Overview of Guild Direction

Coram Populo will focus on its two main strengths from the past two or three expansions: PvE-related activities and role play.

PvE in Warlords of Draenor was successful thanks to our PvE Team and PvE Department Head, Tellaria Evensong. The guild was able to push forward into heroic modes in Hellfire Citadel and our challenge mode team had numerous successful runs as they gained experience running challenge mode dungeons.

Role Play

The Azerothian Trade Federation was founded and created, and plans for guild role play in Legion are being organized and plotted each week. A complete overhaul of our guild role play manual and social media is slated to occur soon. A preview video and overview of role play expectations with our new guild role play officers/leads will be published on YouTube as Legion draws near.

Coram Populo Membership Demographics

Our membership demographics have changed significantly over the past seven years.

  • The average age of our officers is thirty-six (36) years old.
  • The average playtime that our members can dedicate to World of Warcraft is much less than it used to be (especially now at the end of the expansion and as we await the arrival of Legion).
  • 70% of our current active membership base primarily plays for PvE-related activities.
  • 20% of our current active membership base primarily plays for role play-related activities.
  • 5% of our current active membership base plays for both role play and PvE-related activities.
  • 5% of our current active membership base plays for social reasons.

Organizational Structure and Officer Directory

Guild Administration (Senior Officers)

Coram Populo’s senior administration team will remain largely the same as before. Tarcanus, Tellaria, Vyctor, and Belorien all plan on playing active roles in the guild when Legion arrives.

Talandriel Sunchaser has retired from the game to pursue real life goals. Her characters remain in the guild. However, her Tumblr blogs and subscription to World of Warcraft are inactive.

Guild Marshal – Tellaria Evensong

Commander – Vyctor Blackstone

Role Play Lead – Eriene Duskbane, Lieutenant.

PvE Department

Tellaria will continue to spearhead efforts to push forward as far as the guild can go in terms of PvE-related activities. The PvE Team will remain the same as well, with six strong supporting officers ready and able to assist Tellaria in raiding/challenge mode/other PvE efforts.

PvE Department Head, Raid Leader, Challenge Mode Leader – Tellaria Evensong, Guild Marshal.

  • See Above for Contact Information

PvE Team Senior Adviser – Vyctor Blackstone, Commander.

Social Events Coordinator – Klarabella Lightblade, Lieutenant.

  • Klarabella is unavailable due to extended medical leave. Please direct all inquiries concerning social events to Tarcanus Frostbourne.

Role Play (Azerothian Trade Federation)

The Azerothian Trade Federation will be making a return tour during Legion. However, some of the basic design concepts from its first run as our official guild role play story shall be changing in the process.

Role play events, story design, and line implementation will be directed by Eriene and Aurel in collaboration with Tarcanus.

In addition, our ultimate goal is for there to be balance between personal role play/character development and the official guild role play/development. Guild role play will be just one part of a much larger role play space and canvas for our guild members. This will allow both our role play leads to have time to breathe (both in-game and out) or pursue other interests outside of the guild or game. This will also allow for our guild members to have the free time to role play outside of the guild story and pursue other role play and creative writing interests as well.

In essence, the Azerothian Trade Federation will be a nice supplement and addition to our guild members’ role play experience in World of Warcraft.

More information will be available on our guild website, guild Tumblr, and YouTube as Legion approaches.

PvE and Raiding

The raid team of Coram Populo will continue to push forward in Legion.

Challenge mode teams will also continue to run as well.

Please make sure that you sign up for an Open Raid account if you are thinking of joining our raid team!

Please sign up for a Discord account and request an invitation to the Coram Populo Discord server as soon as possible.

We also will be forming Overwatch squads after Overwatch launches.

In addition, Discord will allow us to all keep in constant contact during days and times when people are participating in multiple activities across different games.

As always, be safe, wherever you may be in the world.

– Tarcanus Frostbourne
